Steven Pearce started off slowly in AAA, but he is heating up. In the past 3 games, he is 8-15, with 2 2B's, 1 3B, 1 HR, 5 RBI's and 4 runs scored.

Indy in general is heating up. Definitely some hitting going on down there. Pitchers don't look as good.

Are they keeping him down there till he's 30? Or will they give him a serious shot in the big leagues?

He needs to prove he's deserving of a shot...

He has proven he deserves a chance in the big leagues but he hasnt really gotten one. Trade him or play him he can bring as much as moss has.

How has he proven that he deserves a shot in the bigs?

I have to agree with Wilton. He didn't do much all season so far and he has had 3 good games. I don't think that is deserving of a call up.

He has always hit well in the minors the next step is the majors at least give him a shot at some point.

If I recall correctly from his stint last year, he really lacks plate discipline.

He is 26 years old, and if he continues to hit in AAA, they should give him another shot. I'm not holding my breath though.

Agreed with whoever said earlier that he'd probably bring as much as Moss is bringing right now, but that's not saying much. Moss has been really disappointing.

Yeah but when the general consensus is that he did always hit well in the minors and has never been able to do so in the majors that the trend will continue. He will get a chance at some point this year but i don't think he will until we are out of contention.

Really? Did you see what he did last year? Do you call that hitting well?

He never seemed to get oppurtunity after oppurtunity they just took him out after he did bad. Look at andy laroche he started bad they leave him in there and he does well pearce would have come around eventually.

It may be a function of the position Pearce plays...Moss is two years younger, and the club wants to see for sure what they have in him. That said, right field seems like a position the team can play around with this season. If Moss continues to struggle and Pearce maintains a high output in AAA, he should get another shot. He's had fewer than 200 major league PAs, and he is 26 (not 30).

When I said 30 I implied that sarcasticly the big league club is waiting to bring him up when he is 30.

Pearce has seven walks in 15 games.

Couldn't agree more. If he played an infield position he would have been given more of a chance. When you are an outfielder in Triple-A on the Pirates roster right now you have to make some pretty good noise before the Pirates think about calling him up. I'm guessing he doesn't get called up until September unless there is an injury to the outfield, but even if say Nate or somebody would go down for awhile i think Salazar would get the call before Pearce.
