Ryan Doumit is on the DL, retroactive to April 20th with a fractured scaphoid bone in his right wrist. He is scheduled to have surgery on the wrist Thursday and will be out 8-10 weeks. Tough break for the Bucs..no pun intended..

Say it ain't so. Isn't this the same injury that tends to sap a hitter's power for a year or so?

That really does suck. But we knew he was injury prone; he always has been.

On the bright side, Jaramillo has looked good, especially for a rookie, and Diaz has been off to a hot start at Indy.

Too bad the Pirates can't just plug in another switch-hitting, slugging catcher prospect stashed at AAA. Any idea where we could find one of those?

Time for the Brothers LaRoche and right field platoon to step up.

Please ... those guys are a dime a dozen.

Lefty relievers, on the other hand, are the coin of the realm.

From the Post-Gazette...

Quote:
Pirates catchter Ryan Doumit will miss 8-10 weeks because of surgery he will have performed on his right wrist Thursday. The wrist has a minimially displaced fracture of the scaphoid bone, which will have pins inserted.

Hey it sucks, but he's a catcher and catchers get hurt. There are 7 other position players who need to step up now and pick up the slack.

So we're basically talking about him being out until the All Star break right? Yeah, that sucks but it's not an ACL or something that's going to cost him an entire season.

No but it will probably cost him his pop in his bat when he comes back...
