Those are Younger Laroche's average, on-base and slugging numbers since recording his first hit of the season. He's also stolen a base and, with the exception of the first inning on Sunday when he let one slip under his glove, played a pretty decent third base (at least when I've been watching). Would be nice to see a little more power but hopefully that will come.

Since we all spent a lot of time bashing him during his first 18 at bats, I thought he deserved some kudos for the subsequent 16.

I agree, lets give the kid some props.

I just hope with his new found success that he continues to play within himself and not start trying to go long ball.

That's good to know. He looked pretty comfortable in the field yesterday, making a couple nice plays. I wonder if it helped that almost no one was watching from the stands and he could just go out and play.

Alternatively, .255/.314/.532 is the elder LaRoche's line as of today...it was .227/.277/.500 before last night when the Pirates faced a pitcher who was not right even before the first pitch (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4085044).

He's hitting the ball hard when he hits it, but the OBP is still pretty anemic. I know we've been all encouraged over Adam's relatively hot start (relative being the operative word there), but I'm only excited about it if his normal April/post-April hitting pattern continues through the end of this season.

We definitely need him to produce.

We have a lineup full of fair to good hitters, but no great hitters. We can't afford any black holes.
