Yep....sure would have preferred to see his name between Monroe and LaRoche. The first two games of this series are going to be tough with the back end of the rotation and our bullpen getting exposed.

Anyone in Pittsburgh care to share a weather report?

I just looked out of my office window. Shitty. A constant drizzle, the kind that will stop a game.

The Marlins are in town only once this year. If tonight's game is rained out . . . would there be a double-header on either Tuesday or Wednesday? Or would they go into Thursday. Thursday is a scheduled travel day for both teams. The Bucs head to SD and the Marlins head back home.
Selfishly, I'm thinking that they should postpone tonight's game and play an early double-header tomorrow. However, I'm thinking that the likelihood of a double header the night before a day game is a "no-no." More likely to see two games played on Wednesday if the travel day is to be preserved or an early afternoon game on Thursday so that the Bucs can get to SD for the Friday night game.

Hmmm . . . since I'm making a trip for tomorrow's game, I'd rather see Ohlendorf pitch. Very rarely will I say this but I'm kind of hoping that the game is rained out tonight. Plus, Ohlie, Maholm, Snell on Tues - Thurs against the Marlins gives the Bucs a fighting chance at taking the series.

They're going to play tonight if possible. Double headers cost them money, and they need to keep the travel day to the west coast to overcome the distance.

Biggest concern is Doumit's injury.

The rain is susposed to slow down as the night goes on so if it is delayed i look for this to be one of those where they hold off on calling the game for 2 hours and then if it is still raining call it, but i do think they will get the game in tonight. Now i'm not ruling out a delay.

A's at Yankees has been canceled and also the Padres at Phillies and the start of the Marlins and Pirates is delayed but not canceled yet.

Ruff start but Ohlondorf has overcome it . Four ground balls-- an error but three outs and no runs with the first two on. Good job

Freddy trying to bunt Morgan over to third with no outs is lame.

Especially since Miller had yet to throw a strike. This includes the pitch that Freddy tried to bunt if the MLB gameday feed is accurate.

Yup. Wild pitch, should have Freddy on third and Nate on 2nd, no outs, and a 1-0 score. Of course that would have prevented Nate from stealing third!

I like how the Pirates are taking more chances at stealing bases this season. I thought that was a big problem with the 2008 season.

Agree about Freddy bunting. He's such a good contact guy and hits so well to the right side, that should have dictated hitting and maybe he gets a hit or moves him over.

But still, when asked to bunt, you have to bunt well.

If we're patient with this young kid, he will not last.
