Last night's gamer was Andy LaRoche. In case you 'let's get rid of the brothers' bunch didn't catch it, his grounder brought in the game winning run. No, it wasn't a hit but easily could have been. None the less, it was Andy who was responsible for the game winning run score.

Gamer or bum?

Gamer! I think he will be okay. Of course, I always think Pirates will be okay!

Side Note: LaRoche, the junior, also made a great defensive play.

1 for 2, 1 BB, 1 SB, 1 RBI and a good defensive play.

Not a bad night's work. Let's see if he can build on it.

Who thought we should get rid of the brothers? The only frustration with Adam was his lack of hitting in April, which he seems to have resolved. And I don't think anyone was advocating getting rid of Andy...sitting him maybe, but not getting rid of him.

He did play well in the field last night and i was happy to see it.

But follow me on this. Is it just me, or does he look nervous out there? You know how some fighters meet up in the middle of the ring and you can just see it in their eyes. They aren't coming from a place of confidence.

I swear to you, I think Andy LaRoche has that look in his eyes. He kind of has that scared kid look. People's eyes tell a story and most major leaguers have a confident look. Not him. I hope it goes away.

I agree he has looked nervous. Maybe having his big brother on the team has something to do with it.

He had 3 hits today so maybe he is getting over it.

No doubt. And his hits have been crushed. He deserved two hits yesterday, but Johnson made a ridiculous stop and throw on his liner towards CF. If Laroche does not hit the ball that hard, it stays on the ground and is a single.

Also, Laroche has in the past 3 games not swung at breaking balls in the dirt or fastballs, chin-high. Some other Pirate hitters might want to follow suit.

Plus he's going opposite field. A good sign for sure.
