Pedro can't get through the system fast enough for me. I know it would be bad to rush him, but I can't wait to see this kid's bat in Pittsburgh.

He is only hitting .214, but that home run was a walk-off I believe.

He has 2 HR's and 14 RBI's in 8 games, along with 7 walks. He had an 0-17 streak that drove down his hitting stats.

The good news is Brad Lincoln pitched pretty good the other night.

Reports on Lincoln indicate that he is throwing his fastball in the mid-90's and his curve is major-league quality right now. He will pitch the first half of the season in AA, I would imagine, before being moved up to AAA.

The thought of having a pitcher the quality of Lincoln move into the rotation in 2010, replacing Karstens, makes me think that the Pirates are getting close to turning the corner. A rotation featuring Maholm, Snell, the 2009 Duke, Ohlendort and Lincoln, along with a bullpen featuring Capps, Hansen, and young flame-throwers like Meek and ... dare I say it, Chavez? Pitching depth = staying in games = winning games.
