Soriano is not a picky hitter. Throw the ball below the knees, above the chest, inside off the plate, etc.

Pirate pitchers sometimes seem to have no clue about hitters who swing at anything. Matt Kemp and Soriano are recent examples of players who would swing at a hot dog wrapper blown across the batter's box, yet Pirate pitchers keep firing that first-pitch fastball over the heart of the plate.

They came with a fastball up and in one time yesterday. The ball is still bouncing around out on Waveland. I guess it wasn't in enough. With the groove he's in I think that the only safe pitch is one that bounces.

Well, Dumatrait has been all around the plate including balls bouncing in the dirt in front of the plate and Soriano ain't swinging at them.

At least we are keeping him in the ballpark. He has a single off a low breaking pitch and an out to CF on a low fast ball.
