.....will tell me alot about Ian Snell. I hope it is positive. The team is on a bit of a roll and it would bring some nice momentum going into the home opener. Let's see if Ian can grab some of the vibe.

Couldn't agree more . . . . I'd like for him to come out and "make a statement."

With you two supporting, how could I not?

I sure do agree,.......but....... I really have little confidence in him cuz I think he is a real head case, and those guuys allow their emotions to override their ability. When they're down and he is------ they're really down.

Snell needs to throw strike one, and he needs to avoid that 25 pitch inning that always seems to arise in his starts. Pirates need Snell to be a solid pitcher. They cannot watch Maholm go out and throw a great game, only to have Snell then wet the bed.

Couple of suggestions:

Platoon Adam LaRoche until mid-May.

Put Snell in bullpen as long reliever.

Put Daniel McCutchen in his starting slot.

Make Andy LaRoche third base coach.

Snell has some work to do, but his start today showed some promise. He was spinning the 2-seam early on, meaning that he was getting his hand on the side of the ball, rather than staying on top. It looked that way to me, since the pitch had less velocity, and was running left-to-right a ton, with very little downward movement.

That pitch drifts over the middle of the plate when Snell goes inside to lefties or outside corner to righties. Snell looked like he adjusted during the game and began to control the pitch much better. He was getting more control of the pitch and it had much better, tighter, and later downward movement.

Ian Snell pitched just fine today.

Holding the Reds to 2 runs should be an automatic win for any major league team.
