Pedro Alvarez went 3-4, with a double, a 2-run HR, and 4 RBI's, in his professional debut for Lynchburg.

Pretty good, I can't wait to see what he can do when he gets to Altoona!

This is great news! I'm excited but at the same time know that it will be some time before he puts on the big-boy uniform. LaRoche is keeping 3rd base warm (sort of) for you Pedro...come on up soon!

That's awesome. Hopefully he only needs about a month to prove he is ready to move up a step.

If the saying 'what goes around, comes around' is to be true for the Pirates, then Pedro should be a future MVP and Hall-of-Famer. We REALLY need him to be as good as advertised. Outstanding start. I'll have as much interest watching Lynchburg's box score as Pittsburgh. Go Pedro Go!

Does anyone have any inside information on Lincoln's velocity during his start yesterday. Numbers were not good, but his 6 K's in 4 innings is a nice silver liner.

Could he be in Altoona by Monday?

Don't get that giddy just yet. Alvarez is projected to be a 1B, not 3B.

And some of the other big prospects started well too...McCutchen went 2 for 4, Meek threw a scoreless inning with 2 K's, Friday is hitting .556, Tabata hitting .333,
and Lincoln struck out six and walked two in 4 innings

OK, so LaRoche is keeping 1B warm.

Ah, good one. That I accept as true.

Damn just call up McCuthen and Alvarez then. Especially cutch. There is no reason for him to be in the minors for a part of a season but to save money. The team knows he needs no more development and it would help in the long run for him to get his major league experience here and now. But of course they are wanting to save that money so they will let their top prospects fade into the minors for a more and more time.

It's so nice to have a blue chipper in the minors. Refreshing! I'm very excited to see this guy in a Pirates uniform!!!!!!

In some respects, that is true. However, the Pirates are properly trying to prolong McCutchen's stay with the Pirates franchise by not triggering his arbitration and free agent clock this season.

What is the point of losing McCutchen for an entire season, just to win an extra 3 or 4 games this year? Particularly when Morgan is doing great work so far.
