Extremely sad ending for a young man bursting with promise. Strange that it hasn't been reported on MLB.com or any other site. I first saw it on TMZ.

Wow, he just threw six shutout innings last night. Very, very sad.

Wow...I just saw this story on Yahoo. My son played against this kid in the Maryland State Senior Little League playoffs a few years ago. He was a tremendous talent coming out of high school, but an injury cost him in the draft.

You have to register but I started a thread from Pirates fans. I can't imagine how I'd feel if it were a Bucco...

He was a top Angels prospect and had pitched very well in the minors the past two years. He pitched very well last night, but the pen blew his first major league victory.

This is the second time that the Angels have had a top prospect killed in a motor vehicle accident. Years ago, a SS by the name of Mike Miley died when his ATV rolled.

Rumors are spreading that the other driver was a repeat DUI offender ... nothing official yet.

If true, he will be facing life in prison for killing 3 people.

No question. None at all.

Angels fans are in shock. Mixture of disbelief and rage.

His name seemed familiar to me then I saw the article in my local paper...He played for Baltimore who won the AAABA Championship defeating Johnstown in 2003

Very sad but i'm glad he got to pick a good game before this happened. It should also be noted that there were 2 others killed along with Adenhart.

Not to mention Lyman Bostock and Donnie Moore. The Angels have endured more than their fair share of player tragedy in a relatively short history.

Early reports indicated that one of the other victims was also with the Angels organization. Anyone heard any speculation as to who that might be yet?

Not based upon the very preliminary information I have seen. One blurb notes, "Two others died in the crash, both passengers in the same car as Adenhart. Neither of which were members of the Angels' organization."

http://www.halosheaven.com/2009/4/9/828 ... kes-angels

No idea how credible that information is.

Updated report from OC Police is that the other driver is suspected of being under the influence and will be charged with vehicular homicide.

I know he was the passanger. The driver dried to run on foot and was captured, his name is Andrew Thomas Gallo he is also 22 years old.
The other 2 were Henry Nigel Pearson of Manhattan Beach, a 25-year-old passenger in the car, and the driver, 20-year-old Courtney Frances Stewart of Diamond Bar, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Stewart was a student at nearby Cal State Fullerton, where she was a cheerleader in 2007-08.

Another passenger, 24-year-old Jon Wilhite of Manhattan Beach, was in critical condition at UC Irvine Medical Center, although he was expected to survive, a hospital spokesman said. Wilhite played baseball from 2004-08 at Cal State Fullerton.

The game with Oakland has also been postponed for tonight and they are having a memorial service at the stadium.

I know they really appreciate everyone that left a note on their message board. It shows that MLB is one big family. It really makes Pirates fans look classy too. Way to go guys!

The guy that hit them and fled the scene has been charged with a triple murder.
I hope he gets the max for this.
