Not sure I like the four lefty bats in a row (I know Doumit's a switch, but he's better from the left).

Why not put Hinske at third base and play Monroe in right field, then bat Monroe sixth and Hinske seventh?

I guess it's wrong to think that we are trying to develop young talent. One win causes us to abandon both Moss and Andy LaRoche for the bench guys? Let us all remember the end goal is not using the older, non future guys too much at the expense of the younger guys. Some, yes, everyday,no.

I disagree with starting Hinske because of his eye problem. Moss should still be starting in the outfield.

Is there anything wrong with Moss or are they easing him into regular playing time? Or does Hinske have Babe Ruth like numbers against tonight's starter?

Craig Monroe lifetime vs. Kyle Lohse: .318/ .375/.591/.966 with 2 HRs in 24 PAs.

If you're going to waste a roster spot on him, you might as well use him in spots where he's demonstrated success in the past. Just sayin'.

This line-up tonight just doesn't make alot of sense to me.

Would have to classify the first inning as a productive one for the Pirates. Anytime they get at least one run after having two on and no one out, that is a monster inning!

Because Andy LaRoche has the potential to be a decent third baseman, while Monroe is a washed up stiff who is only on the team because they have no other right handed outfield bats available.

I see its another great 1st inning by a Pirate starter...

St Louis seems to love Ian Snell pitching...

Somebody mentioned this yesterday, and it just happened again. Doumit stabs at a pitch in the dirt by Snell, and the ball kicks away allowing a runner to advance. We keep getting told how he has worked so hard on his defense, but it really isnt showing at all.

And have to give kudos to Morgan for hustling down the line on a groundout to second base. I know he has taken a beating on this board, but I like the way he runs the bases. He advanced from second to third on a flyout in the first, and then scored on a short fly to right by Doumit.

I'll admit I'm not a Morgan fan...He'd better be good running the bases, his whole game is his speed...

Walkie is livid right now. Says Ian had Pujols struck out and the ump called it a ball. Pujols sent the next one out of the park.

Snell has 20 strikes and 18 balls. That about says it all

And dont blame Snell for the Pujols homerun. Even the Cardinals announcers said Snell had him struck out on the pitch before that. Ump didnt have the gonads to ring him up.

Good thing Walk isn't on the mound, the next batter would have gotten one thrown at him...

Saw it on television. It was CLEARLY strike 3 - fastball, knee high, middle-in. Cards announcers thought that Pujols got the call because of his "reputation."

Fuck that. This "different strike zones for different hitters" would cause me to take a hatchet to the umpires. I am really sick of this shit.

Then again, Snell is hanging enough sliders to handle 3 tons of laundry. He hung another to Greene and got away with it.

Snell looks like crap. 6 ER, 7 H, 2 BBs in 3 IP.

Yuck
