It's been 2-1/2 months since the end of the season, and they don't have a plan???? How is that even possible????

The credibility of this front office is shot.

Agreed. And I wonder how much of my lack of confidence is based on their looks. I mean you've got Opie and...and...someone who needs to update his frames from the 1990s.

No, it's maddening, isn't it? Buy, sell, do something!! Not doing anything because you are afraid to take risks is getting you nowhere. I'd rather they roll the dice and risk a 104 loss season to get good if someone works out.

Tweet from Pirates reporter Adam Berry: Neal Huntington basically said the Pirates have yet to determine which direction they'll go this offseason -- add for 2018 or retool for 2019 and beyond. "Depending upon what we’re able to do in this market, that goal (postseason success) may be ’18, that goal may be ’19."

Response from random Pirates' blogger fan: "I do not think NH is a moron, like many on here do. He is in a very tough spot right now, partially bc of his own doing, partially due to bad luck and other constraints. But I have a hard time seeing how he's gonna dig out of it now. Just look at the basic fan perspective: People are pissed. There is very little to get excited about right now. Attendance and ratings have tanked and will get worse. How do you sell the direction of this team? What IS the direction?"

I think the offers for Cole and Cutch will determain a lot. If someone blows them away with offers then building for 2019 is obvious. If not, then retooling for 2018. I’m good with them playing it out like this.
