I would have blamed the "core" of Marte, Bell and Cutch going 0 for 11.

Did any of Polanco's hits last night result in Pirate runs????

I'm happy he went 3 for 4. Good for his INDIVIDUAL stats.

But, I thought this was a team sport?

The Pirates NEED runs. Polanco is a guy who is suppose to drive in RUNS!!!

I guess beggars can't be choosers!!! :D

Cue TROLL Chris Anderson who I blocked.

It's Polanco's fault that no one was on base for him to drive in. Might as well blame him for Hurricane Irma as well.

I just saw BD's same/similar comment on another thread and said the same thing.

Wow....I didn't even comment on THIS thread and get called out anyways.

Typical BD post. Ignore the failures of the rest of the team, focus your anger on your whipping boy, and blame him for stuff beyond his control. If anyone calls you out on your craziness, then they are jerks "who don't understand" what a message board is or you are a troll.

Let's see. Polanco gets 3 hits and NO runs to drive in. NOT HIS FAULT

So, is that a great night because he had three hits??

That's the problem and has been the problem with the Pirate offense for a long time. Runners on board and no one to drive them in!

Players have to get on and set the table and other batters...like Polanco...have to get the hits to drive in the runners!

I feel the Pirates LACK enough players to drive in runs. The Pirates have players who can get on base. But, it's the players (like a Polanco)...who when they have the opportunity...don't get the job done and get the hits so their RBI total is up there...60, 70, 80+ RBI's.

Call me crazy, but when I look at a Polanco, I see a big RBI guy who just doesn't produce.

Polanco is one guy who doesn't get the job done enough times. Cutch is another if he is on. That is dwindling as he gets older. Marte would be the another but Marte is Marte plus he leads off many times. Bell would be another and he is only considered a rookie. Harrison would be the other one and I still can't figure if he is playing way above his head this season. Also, will he produce when he is on?

Of all the players I mentioned, Bell and maybe Harrison are the only guys I can count on more than not when the opportunity presents itself.

The rest of the Pirates including Mercer, or a Stewart, or a Cervelli et al., when they drive in runs, it's icing on the cake for me. I look at those type of players as players who get on base to set the table for the RBI guys.

The RBI guys on this team are and should be Polanco, Cutch, Harrison, Bell, and maybe Marte.

Compare the Pirate "RBI" guys to other teams which consistently score more runs, and are going to make the 2017 MLB Playoffs or are in the battle to make the 2017 MLB Playoffs.
