I, for one, think the team should keep this Veal, i have a feeling he will have a more positive outcome than the Meek experiment in 2008. Yes , he is still kind of wild in the strike zone(last few outings, have been much better, but this kid does throw some serious HEAT, so i would tolerate a few walks for the time being.

My question about his status, is say he gets hurt, or even the Pirates SAY he is hurt. Can they put him on the Dl for awhile?.
I imagine this would keep him with the organization, and they could put him on a rehab stint in aa or aaa, until they have to make a decision.

I am sure teams have done this in the past, but is it legal due to his rule 5 status?.

Teams do this. See i.e. Chris Shelton, Detroit Tigers.
Is it legal? Yes, if there is an injury.
Do teams stretch the truth? Undoubtedly, IMO. See i.e. Chris Shelton, Detroit Tigers.

Hence the plantar fascitis reference earlier today.

Maybe he could go on the DL with "anxiety disorder." He is scared of the minor leagues ...
