sheesh, kinda looks like a david vs goliath sitch, eh? how awesome would it be to see glasnow bounce back in a big way and shut down the cubs, while the buccos' bats take it to arrieta? probably not as satisfying as a nice tax refund, but close....

It's like David vs. Goliath... if David couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with his sling.

It will be interesting to see if the Pirates can hit Arrieta like they did the second half of last season. I am betting against it.

Watching Glasnow rack up 25 pitches in the first inning is so disheartening. I just want to see him make it to the 6th inning.

6th? You're a lot more optimistic than me.

The Pirate Offense against Jake Arrieta vs the Cubs Offense against Tyler Glasnow?

The correct, intelligent move would be to bet against Glasnow and the rest of the players who in this case are called the Pittsburgh Pirates. That's why I'm picking the Glasnow and the rest of the players who in this case are called the Pittsburgh Pirates to win this game.

PS: Is baseball really a TEAM SPORT?????????? Not according my opinion and definition of what a TEAM SPORT should be. :D

Arrieta's last three starts against the Bucs last season, he yielded 19 earned runs in 17.1 innings.

Also, remember that his 91-92 mph readings are 1 mph faster than last year's readings due to where Fx now measures the velocity. That pitch is a 90-91 mph fastball last year.

I watched one of Arrietta's starts. He features a ton of offspeed now to counter his diminished velocity. Sliders, cutters, change-ups, etc. Don't count on a lot of fastballs - the pitch the Pirates feast on.

Also, please, please, please, please, please, please, please Glasnow - fire away. 98 mph. No more 91 mph that hitters crush. Make the hitters uncomfortable. Rear back and FIRE.

Glasnow looked like a scared puppy in the dugout before the game. Maybe that's just his face.

Buccos, as a team, hitting .179 in the first inning this season.

We are entering nightmare status for Glasnow.

For those advocating for him learning how to pitch in the bigs ... here you go. 2-0 on first two batters. Cue shot double and a ball hit to the moon in a grooved 93 mph fastball.

That's what happens when you don't have a backup shortstop. A routine groundball botched. Our defense is so bad.

No doubt Pirates made a big mistake with Glasnow. Send him down before you ruin him for good.

The Cubs have hit for the cycle 5 batters into the game.

Another reason the win last night was so big. The Cubs will waste a start on Arrieta today and with Taillon going tomorrow, we still have a chance to win the series.

His defense didn't help, but that was an ugly inning. At least he threw some strikes though.

Arrieta threw two fastballs in the first two innings so Bucfan is spot on. Cervelli's dinger was on a sinker that didn't sink. Nice job of hitting taking advantage of a rare Arrieta mistake.
