This season is already feeling like last year. When the starting pitching is good, the hitting fails When the hitting is good, the bullpen fails. When the bullpen is good, the starting pitching fails. Pick your combination.

It wasn't pretty but Rivero got the job done. How about an insurance run!

Great job by Rivero to come back from a tough situation. Hopefully, Watson can shut this down in the 9th.

A walk and an error brings the winning run to the plate.

And a HBP puts the winning run on first.

The league needs to start cracking down on Rizzo. He might as well sit on the plate.

#RaiseIt

Jesus. We gave them so many baserunners late in the game.

Well it was not what I was expecting, tons of mistakes, but great to get a win.

Very important win because

1. Cole got his act together. Wasn't dominant, but gave his team a chance to win with a quality start.

2. Came from behind on the road.

3 It stops the bleeding for at least one day.

4. It's the stinkin' Cubs.

I couldn't be the only one who was having Mike Williams flashbacks in the 9th.

I was sitting in a bar at the Charlotte airport texting with IA. Trust me. You weren't alone

I'm glad they hit him twice. He's daring the league to do it. I never wish injury on anyone, but he is living a charmed life right now. Maybe a month or two on the DL with a broken bone in his hand will back him off the plate. I didn't see the game- was he hit with strikes?

No, both pitches were waaaay inside, almost behind him.

The trouble is that on both pitches, the pitcher was trying to go inside on Rizzo. The window inside is microscopic because of where he stands, so the pitcher is trying to thread the needle instead of just firing away.

Also, Rizzo's positioning makes it almost impossible to pitch him away. In the 1st inning, Cole threw a pitch just off the outside corner. To Rizzo, it was the middle of the plate, and he smacked it into left-center for a double.

Trying to go inside is, as noted, also extremely difficult. I do think that Polanco would be more successful if he took a step closer to the plate, since the pitch down-and-away is his nemesis.
