No. 1 took one on the chin today. First inning 1-2-3. Second inning, 6 runs, 6 hits (4 doubles) and three errors. On the plus side his off speed stuff was nearly unhittable, unfortunately thigh high 86 mph fastball won't cut it. Third inning, 4 more runs, 4 hits, another error and a couple walks. It was a good lesson in learning how to pitch and the importance of being able to spot your fastball. i won't be seeing next Tuesday's game. It is in Prescott.
On a Bucs note, my father in law and I walked over to a picnic table with some shade and asked the gentleman at the table is we could join him. He graciously accepted. We chatted up a bit, as I am inclined too, turns out he was originally from near Moses Lake, Wash. and coached Ryan Doumit at different times on teams in the region during HS. His son played 2B today for the same team as No.1 is playing for. He said Doumit is one of the most relaxed hitters he has ever been around.

This kid seems pretty solid defensively and swings a good bat. Hitting about .350 in 40 or so at bats. Team average is right around .250.

Any pitcher who has not had a tough outing just has not pitched enough yet.

The bad game bug gets them all. He will bounce back.

Exactly, I'll be curious to hear about the bounce-back game. Love the updates!

Well the team bounced back. Won the second of the back to back against South Mountain yesterday 3-1. And here is an interesting injury, No. 1 has tendinitis in the little finger of his pitching hand. Will not miss any time, it only hurts after pitching.

And I am guessing that the only way to cure the injury is rest ... and that is not an option.

I'm also guessing you don't want to hear any Kip Wells comparisons LOL. You can always stress that it's another good reason to pound the strikezone to reduce wear on the hand.

He said it doesn't cause any discomfort when he throws, only afterwards. Trainer wants him to see a doctor and get naproxen for it . I offered Aleve which has naprosen but he said no he wanted what the dr. would prescribe. LOL. I love 18 year old amateur doctors. And, basically yes, rest is the only real cure.
