Much like with many of the other decisions regarding this club, I hate him and already think he sucks.

I can't stand Chip or Skip or whichever Caray it was that did the Braves games on TBS and this dude sounds just like that.

To me he sounded like Bob Uecker doing his Bob Uecker imitation in a baseball movie, only without the humor. I didn't care for him, but a single game isn't enough for me to make a judgment.

Except in the case of Greg Brown. Him I hated right out of the box.

I refuse to take part in this discussion on the grounds that it would make me sound like a whining bi*ch... lol

By the Altoona affiliate..but since they are affiliated with the Pirates AND because I want to keep a good relationship with the club..I plead the fifth..

My two favorite humorous play by play moments.

1. " Last time up, Rusty Staub hit a 3 run homer with 2 men on." Ralph Kiner

2. "Leading off for the Phillies, Eye-vun Dah Jeezus." (Ivan De Jesus) Harry Caray

I say we petition and get curveradio moved up to the Pirate broadcast booth.
I already got a couple calls you could use.

Now i'm up in the big leagues, Gettin' my turn in the booth. As long as i live, it's the Bucs and me baby, There ain't nothin wrong with that.Well i'm movin on up, To the north side. I've finally got a piece of the pie.

and your new homerun call could be "It's Giggidy Giggidy Gooooooooooone!"

It would make you unforgettable.
I'll be the first to sign!

Speaking of Skip Carrey...

I had a friend in college who could do a pretty dead on impression. We'd love to make him go through a normal day and give some play by play. I'd cry laughing.

My recommendation for the new guy's home run call:

"Damnit, that is going to cost $4 for a new ball. How many points is that worth, anyway?"

I never minded Skip Caray. It was the Don Sutton side of the mike I didn't care for. And Ernie Johnson was a throwback kind of announcer.

I was never a fan of Skip Caray, but I think a large part of that was how I always associated his voice with his "Braves win, Braves win..." narration of the highlight clips of October 14, 1992.

The new announcer is filling some mighty shoes: Lanny was, in my opinion, one of the best play by play men in baseball.

In addition, Lanny is a good human being.

I hope the new guy can step in and be half as good. The challenge will be clear: To announce Pirate games, you need to be a professional broadcaster AND a professional spin doctor!
