The game is tied 3-3 going to the top of the 7th. Morgan and Doumit have solo HR's. Freddy and JR were thrown out of the game by HP Ump Rob Healey (believe it or not!)
Ross Ohlendorf pitched four very good scoreless innings. Go Bucs!

What does one do to get thrown out of a ST game? And why does one put themselves in that position?

We all have bad days. When a Major Leaguer has a bad day, he gets tossed. When one of us has a bad day, we get banned.

I guess this Ump is a rookie or newer Ump. Freddy was called out on strikes. Freddy said something to Healey so he tossed him. Then JR came out to let Healey have it and he got tossed too. Greg Brown and Steve Blass were calling the game at that point and remarked how ridiculous the entire situation was. Both Freddy and JR had to leave the game by going down the RF line to the Clubhouse. Greg Brown remarked how odd it looked for a Manager to leave a ST game like that.

Who argues balls and strikes in a spring training game?

Good start for Ohlendorf...I think he's got the #4 spot in the rotation locked up. Veal had a good inning. Hansen...not so much...

I'm willing to bet that Russell wasn't arguing balls and strikes so much as showing support for Sanchez. Also, give me a player anytime with fire in his belly who doesn't want to give a plate appearance away or to have one taken from him. A player who shrugs and says "ah, its only Spring Training" - less desirable (IMO).

Good point 9. But you also don't want to show up an ump in a meaningless spring training game.

Umps have long memories.
