New Amsterdam was a Dutch settlement est. at the southern tip of Manhattan Island which served as seat of the colonial government in the New Dutch territory. It was renamed New York in honor of the then Duke of York.

The reason is probably due to the fact that Pirates are usually out of the playoff race by the beginning of June added to the fact that once Steeler season starts around here, people usually forget that the Pirates exist.

Bingo. FSN has contracts to cover HS football on Thursday and Friday nights in September. They also show college football most Saturdays, and very rarely air a Pirates game during Steeler games. If anything, I would say that this coverage is equal to years past...perhaps even more. I believe this past year the Pirates had a west coast road trip and FSN didn't even send a crew out there for any of the games.

Yeah, well the Pirates didn't really show up for that trip, either as I recall.

I don't know...covering 27 games in 30 days seems pretty reasonable to me.

And this will probably be as close to October baseball that we get for another year or two.

Thats about the usual for september through october, but have more games overall on FSN than in years past. The Pirates have 128 out of 162 games on FSN this year.I don't know if we have MLB Network games or ESPN games but i doubt we do.

I thought MLB Network was only talking about Thursday night games for now.

And I thought we had this same discussion last fall when football started trumping baseball.
