Brandon Moss hurt the thumb on his right hand in today's game vs. the Twins. He may have dislocated the thumb, but apparently remained in the game after the injury and did not come out until he tried to throw the ball and realized that he had hurt the thumb.

Dammit ...

This means Pearce might get a serious look at making the team now if Moss is down for a long period of time...

I really hope he's not serious. He's my pick for the guy to have that break out year. He can't do that if he can't swing.

Thank you thank you.Everybody else has been hating on Craig Monroe when i have been saying since the talks to signing him started that he would be this years Jason Michaels.

Oh God. I can only hope not. After Michaels quick start, he hit .228/.300/.382 with the Pirates. But the way Monroe has played the last couple of years, yeah, I think he can do that.

Then everyone's hating is justified. Michaels is awful.

This just in... Moss has a significant contusion and a mild sprain of his right thumb. He is headed back to Pirate City where he will begin treatment to reduce the inflammation and increase his grip strength. He should be able to get back to work once the swelling subsides and his grip strength returns.

The Pirates believe he should be ready for Opening Day. In the meanwhile, I like the fact that we get an extra looksie at Monroe and Garrett Jones.

That is really good news. Moss has been bitten by the injury bug in his time with the Pirates. I hope he can stay healthy and show what he has to offer.
