No. 1 got his first college win and the team their first conference win beating Chandler/Gilbert CC 5-3 today. He gave up two runs, four hits in 5 2/3 innings. Walked 7. LOL. When he threw strikes they didn't do much with it. He danced around runners on base all day. Nerve wracking.

Yeah, that has to be nervewracking. I can almost see you twisting and turning with each pitch, trying to give it a Vulcan mind-meld across the plate.

Tell me about it buccoboy. That thought crossed my mind way too many times. He was dancing with the devil in the 4th and 6th becasue of the walks. The 4 hits were two bunt singles, a flare to right and a solid single to right. Maybe we should send him to Joe Kerrigan. Pound the strike zone kid.

Congrats on the win. Do kids still go to McDonald's for milkshakes after a win, nowadays?

As for pitching advice, I have to adhere to the sage wisdom of Joe Schultz: "Smoke 'em inside, bulldog"

Congrats, Paul. Huge congrats. Winning a college game as a starting pitcher is something that only a tiny percentage of guys who pitched in Little League will experience.

And have no fear regarding the control ... Ben will find the strike zone. The more important news is that when he throws strikes, the batters can do nothing with it.

Two bunt singles ... pfffft.

On behalf of my son and myself, a hearty thank you.

His control is baffling in that he pitched 3 great innings again then walked 3 on 12 straight balls in the 4th after an inning opening K. His mechanics, particularly his release point seem to go haywire all at once.

He threw a couple of backdoor sliders that froze 2 RH batters for K's and K'd the cleanup guy with letter high gas.

Apparantly the hitters were weighing the crux between sacrificing themselves(and making a productive out), or trying to get a hit with their bunts. :D

You answered my question before I could type it. I wondered if the control trouble was due to not commanding the "stuff", or mechanical.
