I felt a lot better about this series before this weekend. The Braves had gone 3 - 12 while we were surviving Cutch's absence. Then the Braves swept the As and our tires came off during vs the Nats and suddenly the Braves have something to play for. It helps a little bit that we're getting them at home and that Cole is slated to pitch on Wednesday, but still...

It feels very much like make or break time for the Pirates.

This series (and really the rest of them) will probably come down to whether the middle infield can get healthy fast and whether the starters can make it 7 innings. I'm not sure if it was mentioned here but Barmes went to Altoona for a rehab assignment on the 14th. His return would at least eliminate some of the fielding woes.

As for today, it would be nice to see them touch up Ervin Santana for 4-5 runs. He has been very good this year.

Bringing my 75 year-old Mother to her first game at PNC Park. Dad died in April, and today would have been their 52nd wedding anniversary. He never missed a game, so Mom watched almost all of them with him. She's very excited to see the Buccos at the "new" park, and I thought it would be a fitting way to spend the day. Leaving Morgantown soon.

Good son.

That's all kinds of excellent.

Good juju!

Enjoy the game. Cherish the time with your mom.

Well, Mom sure enjoyed the beautiful views and the great atmosphere... until the 2nd pitch of the game. Ugh, heck of a way to show off the experience of a Pirate's game.

Had fun anyway. Touched our family brick outside of the home plate rotunda. Ate some unhealthy food. Talked about the Vince Lachey organ music. Bad game, but great experience.

Get after 'em tonight.
