Hip trouble forces Morton to DL; Bucs call up Morel.

Ah, nothing like another weak bat to fill out this injured lineup.

Get well soon Cutch!

There is no excuse for calling up Morel. None.

Say what?! Does his .674 AAA OPS not sway you???

Man alive! August can't end soon enough.

Right, every guy who pitches bad, then goes on the DL, isn't really hurt.

I've been saying for a week that I thought Morton was hurt. There was plenty of evidence that something was bothering him.

Now a guy like Pimentel, I could see where he might agree to go on the disabled list even if he wasn't really hurt. He's an unproven rookie going through a rough patch. But Wandy and Morton? Why in the hell would they agree to something like that? Two veterans with guaranteed contracts? They'd refuse, and if the Pirates went ahead and disabled them anyway, their agents would be on the phone to the Player's Association and Commissioner's office as fast as they could dial the numbers. They have no reason or motivation to accept it. But plenty of lame jackasses are ready to cry out their conspiracy theories every time a pitcher goes on the DL. What would it take, a bone sticking out of their skin before you'd believe they were hurt?

I can deal with any two of Martinez, Morel and Nix. This infield is so shaky that you simply must have two backups, even if they suck. But I can't see any reason to have three lame infield bats on the bench.
