Wins and losses for pitchers are irrelevant. You could be 10-0 with a 5.50 ERA or 0-10 with 3.20 ERA.

Yep, yep, yep.

It's also unfair since the Cards acquired two ex-Sawks while the Giants added one. Two of those guys are 'red' for having -.500 records.

The five Pirates SP's cited only accounting for half of the team's 64 wins says more about their bullpen than the staff.

Here are the Win/Loss records of the starting pitchers with the Brewers, Cards, Reds, Giants, and Braves:

1.) Reds: Homer Baily 9-5; Johnny Cueto 15-6; Mat Latos 4-3; Mike Leake 9-11; Alfredo Simon 12-8

2.) Brewers: Marco Estrada 7-6; Yovani Gallardo 7-6; Kyle Lohse 11-7; Wily Peralta 14-7; Mike Fiers 2-1

3.) Cards: John Lackey 12-8; Lance Lynn 13-8; Justin Masterson 6-7; Shelby Miller 8-9; Adam Wainwright 14-7

4.) Giants: Madison Bumgarner 13-9; Tim Hudson 8-9; Tim Lincecum 9-8; Jake Peavy 2-12; Ryan Vogelsong 7-8

5.) Braves: Aaron Harang 9-7; Mike Minor 4-8; Ervin Santana 12-6; Julio Teheran 10-9; David Carpenter 4-2

Pirates: Francisco Liriano 3-9; Jeff Locke 4-3; Charlie Morton 5-12; Edinson Volquez 10-7; Vance Worley 5-2

If starting pitching rules the day, which starting pitching staff would you pick just based on wins and losses?

Which starting pitching staff do you think is the weakest?

Which starting pitcher or pitchers would you not want?

The Pirates are lucky...IMHO...to be where they are right now...and, they better get their starting pitching on the right track and fast if they want to even make the playoffs...IMHO.

PS: The Bullpen has also been an overall disappointment except for Tony Watson who is 8-1 with a 1.40 ERA and Jared Hughes who is 6-3 with 1.80 ERA.

Call me crazy but the only rotation I take over the Pirates' is the Reds.

Giants suck past Bumgarner. Braves have Teheran and Minor and crap. Cards aren't strong past Wainwright. Brewers are average throughout.

Other teams have some name value but the production isn't astounding. Peavy is washed up, Harang's abysmal, Vogelsong is back to being Vogelsong after his fluke year, and is anybody at all concerned with seeing Lance Lynn as a team's #2?

Pirates bullpen is weak but 9 times out of 10 it doesn't burn them. Just really sticks out when it does.

In danger of being case and point right now.

Ugh.

Via the radio crew: Jeff Locke has 14 starts this year. Five blown saves in those starts.

Another brutal heart wrenching loss.

We've had to say it way too many times this year...brutal loss. This bullpen is awful. They rarely add on after getting an early lead. They made no moves for bench or bullpen, and are stuck with Nix and Martinez batting in a tie game in the ninth inning. Like I said...brutal.
