I'm with Sisy.

Stargell started his move to 1b during one season. Switched in offseason and was off to the races. Pedro can make that switch.

I just think he'll have to, or be a DH until he get's rid of Sax Syndrome (unless you want to wait 6 years for him to fix his throwing problems).

A great first baseman is unique. I know Pedro works hard, so do I, and I'm not playing a boys game, but I find it hard pressed to believe he could do it so quickly without costing his team defensively next year. Kind of like he's done this year. Went to the field the other day to see if I could still deliver a strike 127 feet across the diamond. Its not that hard.

I can't do it. I think it's hard as hell! And I have (had) a really good arm compared to the average bear.

EDIT: Obviously Pedro Alvarez should be able to do so, just responding to this post on its own.

Could Pedro even pick up first base in one off season? Considering he's never played the position or hasn't in years?

You can pick up first base in a couple of afternoons. If he took the field at first tonight he'd already be their best defensive first baseman.

I agree. All of these throwing errors have obscured the fact that his glove has been very, very good this year.

Stargell moved to first because he was old and his knees were shot.

Stargell played first 264 times in the majors before he moved to first for good in 1975. On top of that, he played 134 of his 379 minor league games at first, including his entire first season in professional baseball. Stargell wasn't an outfielder who moved to first, he was a first baseman who moved to the outfield, primarily because this arm was a cannon. Then when his knees were shot, he went back to first, as you said.
