OK....so how much is Pedro actually worth at this point?

Could we ship him out with a mid level prospect for a good starter?

I think the writing is on the wall. His defense is really becoming a liability.

I don't think the Pirates could (or should) move him at the deadline. But an off-season trade and/or move to first base should definitely be in the works.

It'd have to be an offer Huntington couldn't refuse. Solid starting pitcher and a top prospect.

Pedro is a silver slugger, his power numbers are down but his OBP is up. He only needs to get his slugging up.

He's not eligible until 2016. he'll correct his throwing. Its simply (underlined) a throw across the diamond.

Pedro's playing time has been diminishing. The pirates are tired of waiting for him to get his head on straight.

Personally I think they've given him more time than he deserves.

The tweaked knee plays no role, huh?

Sure it does. Gives them the excuse they need to sit a guy who can't hit lefties, and has Steve Sax disease.

I'm sure his knee is tender. I'm sure the majority of Burgh fans want to see him play everyday because of that one swing momentum potential. I know I do. Fix the throws. Need this guy.

Pedro is not a FA until 2017.

Sorry, meant after the 2016 season when free agency opens during that calender year. Is that correct?

He's under team control through the 2016 season. So they have him for 2 more full years after this one if they so desire.

Right, injury has nothing to do with it. The Pirates just love sending Morel out there.

This one's right up there with your complaint that Pedro wasn't 9 feet tall so that he could catch the bouncer over his head the other day.

You've got a guy with 22 throwing errors who is having a disappointing season at the plate, but the best you can do is make stuff up?

If they really want to trade him then they better hope that he finishes strong and then trade him in the off season. If they do that though they better get a lot because you normally don't trade a power guy with 2 more years of control.

Trading him now is selling low on a player that is having a rough season.

Remember Jason Bay 2007? He then had back to back 30+ hr seasons in 2008 and 09.

Its not his hitting. You can wait that out if you like.

He has Steve Blass/Sax disease. He's toast as a functioning 3b. You don't recover from that. You move position. And, the only place for Pedro to go is as a 1b, or piece of the package to get Lester and become a DH.

That is funny, because I distinctly remember Steve Sax did recover from it.

That's a different situation, APE. Zimmerman has a shoulder injury. Are Pedro's throwing yips injury-related?

JC's comment notwithstanding, no he has not.

Chuck Knoblauch had a vicious case of the yips that ended his career as well.

Knoblauch also stopped hitting. I wonder if they were related.
