The 2010 Pirates didn't even make some of the mistakes that this team makes.

:D

And who switched with lunchbox?

Wouldn't it be something if both of these guys became 'late bloomers'???

Snider his hitting well but his .750 OPS isn't all that far out of line when compared to his career OPS of .707. Harrison's OPS is more than 100 points above his career mark, and he also is hitting like he spent the off season eating the bones of deceased home run hitters. It's just astonishing the way he's hitting. He has a career high in home runs, and that includes his seasons in the minors.

Both are still just 26, just a year older than Marte, so I couldn't really call either a late bloomer, though.

Things I never thought I'd see this year: bunting to get to Chris Stewart.

Hurdle just managed to find something that bothers me more than a hitter trying to get a bunt down. It's having Mercer bunt with men on first and second (the guy on second being very slow as a bonus) to get to Stewart with a rightie on the mound on a day when Mercer has already homered.

Is there a team BBQ after the game? Seems the focus of several are somewhere other than the task at hand. That said, Cutch's slump is bad....real bad.....and we need him and his leadership.

Playing pretty poorly today. Sub par starting pitching. Some bad fielding. Poor base running. It's a miracle they're in this.

MLB just announced a new statistic. WIDP. Chris Stewart is now the all time leader of most times WIDP (Walked Into a Double Play)

A trade that I would offer a few teams is: Pirates give up Bell, Glasnow, and JaCoby Jones in exchange for base running intelligence.

You'd think I would learn on weekday afternoon games not to watch, especially if we have a shot to sweep. I will accept a loss, but this is pathetic and embarassing, Morton was bad but still got 5 innings, but the base running was as bad as it gets and that is no lie, I have never seen an inning end on a bases loading walk with one out, Stewart cost us a lead and Wilson again came in and walked himself in trouble. We are playing to win the division and this is inexcusable.

Why can't we just lose a game by getting out hit and out pitched?? ya know, like normal teams. Instead of giving up runs and giving up outs.

Pathetic display today by buccos. Never saw a double play after a walk , poor pitching. Hurdle kept Charlie in there when he was stinking up the joint. Wilson, Gomez, awful. Poor defense. Chris Stewart is terrible. A loss is a loss, but if we miss playoffs by a game this will be a game we look back at.

Most of the Brewers losses would be my first target for blame.

Yeah, I'd look at those before looking at a game where they gave up bases loaded situations in each of the first three innings or so and then squandered a situation that only existed because the Giants SS dropped an easy DP ball.

Very true TTIS...but that comment did get me to thinking (which is in itself a dangerous situation! :D )...

...maybe "good" teams beat themselves more when they do lose? Notice, I put the word good in quotation marks because I think that word is a broad descriptive word which is certainly up for debate.

...however, I do think the Pirates are a "good" team! :D

...or maybe I'm just trying to smooth over how BAD that loss was against the Giants yesterday to make myself feel better?

...any way you slice it, a loss is a loss is a loss and a win is a win is a win!

Obviously, the Pirates have to win many more games than they lose going forward to make the Playoffs...GO BUCS!!!!
