Dunn reached an agreement with the Nationals...

Quote:
According to Chico Harlan of the Washington Post, the Nationals agreed to a preliminary two-year deal with Adam Dunn. Nationals GM Jim Bowden drafted Dunn when he helmed the Reds back in 1998. It seems likely that Dunn will play first base for the Nationals. The 29 year-old hit .236/.386/.513 with 40 home runs in 651 plate appearances for the Reds and Diamondbacks in '08.

With Dunn and Abreu off the market, the Braves' only option for an outfield addition is probably to make a trade.

The Washington Nationals have agreed to a preliminary deal with 29-year-old free agent Adam Dunn, a signing that would fulfill their offseason-long search for a left-handed power hitter. Two independent sources have told the Post that Dunn will sign a two-year deal, possibly announced as early as tomorrow.

More details coming.

2/$20M is what I'm hearing.

Given the market, they overpaid. Of course, given that they're the Nats, they had to.

Ibanez money, and lucky to get it.

Theyve been saying hes been waiting to see what happens in LA with Manny. I wonder if this means a Manny/LA deal will be announced soon.

Some people would argue that $10 million per year is a steal. Market be damned.

Teams were waiting to see what Manny did, but the Nationals were the only ones to offer him a deal...I'm guessing he jumped on it after Abreu signed with the Angels...

I was trying to find the link I posted yesterday on the 75 pages but I dont feel like looking for it again...its from the Washington Post

So how many wins do you think the Nationals will have this season?

Watch the Nationals make the Playoffs because by some miracle Dunn hits 40 HR's walks 120 times, and leads the league in hitting...

HAHAHAHAHA

I'll be curious to see what effect Nat Park has on his power numbers. It's really too new to call it favorable either way, but last year it ranked 14th in HRs allowed to LHB. The GAB was 1st.

And so it ends for DunnBlast 2009.

No Monster shots...

No fireworks displays...

No Styx...

and I'll have to get my own fan to cool down on hot day games...

At the risk of being tarred and feathered for the next 1,000 pages of this thread I just don't get why everyone is so jacked about this guy. He walks a lot. Sign him up. I mean he hits 40 HR's when he should probably hit 50. He K's at an alarming rate, and he can't play defense. Plus put him in a bad lineup like in Washington and the only thing he may do is walk and hit meaningless HR's. I never wanted this guy and I'm glad someone else is on the hook for him.

If the price was right, I'd love to have him.

HinskeBlast.... HINskeBlast... hinSKIBLAST....

Just can't get it to roll off the tongue...

Of course, we wouldn't have to wait out on the riverwalkd, we'd have to come inside to the first row of the RF wall, but hey...

The Nats just went from a 70 to a 74 win team. Nats fans must be very proud.

And no one needs to convince me of Dunn's virtues. But for the negligible net gain, I'd rather stink young and snag the higher draft pick.
