Bobby Abreu signs for one year, five million dollars. This is a great example of the current economic conditions in baseball keeping salaries down for FAs.

All the more reason to give Dunn his asking price, or at least 3/$33M.

And once again, I try to facilitate discussion and you respond by being disparaging. Well played.

There is nothing disparaging said, and is wholly relevant.

Because this points exactly to what some of us were saying yesterday. And, to what some others were trying to argue.

Abreu's been declining for a few years now, so I guess I'm not shocked by this, but I have to think it doesn't bode well for guys like Dunn and Ramirez, both of whom turned down a lot of money because they felt they needed to make more. I gotta think that $10 million offer the Nats threw at Dunn just went down, as did the $20 something million the Dodgers threw at Manny.

Wonder if that $18 million to Howard, which is a totally different case, skewed a few opinions on what the market would bare?

I would think Howards' numbers would skew the thinking of agents for these guys, who probably dont' consider themselves either "old" or "declining". Howard is just entering his prime, the others are on the back side of it, or past.

I don't know, maybe they are waiting on some stimulus monies to set a floor on their asking price!

The owners are waiting for their rapid refunds from H&R Block to meet Manny's demands

I'm waiting for my bailout, I've branched myself out so much lately...

Between running a tattoo shop, playing music, selling fireworks, and just buying the entire inventory of a music store going out of business to start my own store...I'd sure like to hope theres somewhere I fall into the stimulus handouts
