I do keep an eye on Barrios. I guess the guy throws some real gas.

We're due for a lot more of these mid-season promotions. Like, when the hell is Bell going to Altoona?

LOL that is the $50 question I know. He was killing it last night in Bradenton too.
Don't want to see him leave but he needs to move up.

If Josh Bell has been a key part of trade talks it makes sense to leave him be for now. Keeps his performance stable. If you promote him and he struggles a bit maybe it takes the shine off him just a little.

Not a bad thought, but I doubt they'd potentially slow down his clock to leave him at a lower level strictly for hypothetical trade value that might never come. A well-earned mid-season AA promotion would be big for his majors ETA, especially after the knee injury basically took away his rookie year. I do think that you won't see him make the switch to 1B until AAA or so for that reason, though.

Not that I wouldn't do it for the right return, but I have serious doubts that they'd trade Bell. Just some instinctual reason. Maybe it's just the pride in knowing they were able to sign him after his commitment to Texas, or simply wanting to keep him in the system as he has clearly emerged as a top 50 prospect this year. I think they'll be pretty conservative with the idea of moving him, but could be wrong.

I would also hold onto him as the next in line if after two more seasons, Marte has stalled in his development.
