Usually these types of things only happen vs. the Brewers.

Russell needed to do that thing he talked about last year where time slows down for him in big situations and makes him "clutch".

That continues to be the biggest problem with the offense. You can't have Davis and Martin hitting 4-5. Pedro needs to be able to hit fourth, and then put Walker in the 5 hole.

Russell kept yanking this fastballs down the left side. Had to see that coming.

Barmes isn't in there for the wood. He should've been looking for a first pitch fastball. Wait a minute, yep he got one. Then he flailed at two ugly sliders.

Not good at bats in the clutch.

Pretty sure Martin just forgot the situation.

Wouldn't have needed it had Hurdle decided not to rely upon station-to-station baseball today. Horrific.

Not running Cutch with runners on corners early in game.
Pitching to McGahee in 10th.
Two very questionable and passive strategic choices.

Yeah they should've run more. Even the announcers were wondering why they weren't going. Don't know if that's a Clint thing or a player thing, I know he kind of lets Marte and Cutch do as they please.

Alvarez's defense continues to cost this team.

I was more mad about pitching to him in the 8th. Jones up against a lefty would've been nice. They had nobody on their bench to scare you.

We have had some really crappy losses this season including this one. The bullpen imploded in all three games. I hope this isn't a trend.

Kudos to Worley. Earned another start.

Oh, and bases loaded in the 10th with no outs and we come up with zero. That was pathetic.

Wasted opportunity. Bucs could have swept this series and been over 500. Pirates seem to be allergic to sweeps. Yes we've been playing better. But the same issues seem to happen over and over. Bullpen implodes, and stranding too many runners.

Bases loaded and nobody out and we can't score. And what's been up with Martin? His stick has been weak lately. Hughes still stinks as does barmes.

Very deflating loss.

Alvarez is killing this team with his defense, and his offense isn't exactly great.

Amazing this team is still in the hunt with all of these horrible losses they've had this year.

The worst ones were any of the ones vs the brewers. This one, and the giants loss when we were up by 6 runs and blew it.

Martin has a 130 OPS+ (second on team after McCutchen) and is hitting .375 over his last ten games. Do not let one GIDP in a crucial situation cloud your judgement, they happen.

Should not have pitched McGehee.

Sorry, Russell Martin is not a number 5 hitter(and I love the guy for the record). He has been hitting well, yes, but ideally you have someone with a little more pop and who can drive in runs more consistently. I think Walker will take that spot upon his return. That just leaves the unfortunate fact that Alvarez has not succeeded in the clean up spot, which is where he belongs...in a perfect world!
