This would be a great way to honor someone who hasn't been honored by the organization with a bobblehead thus far. This is from the PBC blog. Dejan is right on the money on this one. Vote early, Vote often. Link at bottom.
Quote:

So it has been suggested in the comments, and so shall it be seconded: Honus Wagner for write-in bobblehead.

From the home office, top 10 reasons why he should receive the fans' write-in vote for the third and final bobblehead of 2009, to be passed out Sept. 25 ...

10. Batted over .300 in 17 consecutive seasons, the only context in which anyone can mention "17 consecutive seasons" this summer in a positive light.

9. Was one of five original inductees into the Hall of Fame, an honor that apparently pales next to being enshrined in bobblehead immortality: His fellow statue mates, Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell, have one. So does Bill Mazeroski, who also got a street out of his package deal. The Dutchman still waits.

8. Eight National League batting titles. Repeat: Eight.

7. Once was captured in this ridiculously great photograph ...

6. Unlike all the candidates on the actual ballot, never contributed to a string of 67-win seasons.

5. Hails from Carnegie, right up the West Busway. Easy commute for the descendants.

4. Talk about championship-caliber players: Exactly 100 years ago, he and his nattily attired teammates -- sporting the PBC on the left sleeve -- beat Ty Cobb and the Detroit Tigers for the franchise's first World Series championship. There also might have been more, given the greatness of the 1900-02 teams, but those were the final three years before the Pirates became so bored with National League competition that their owner challegned the American League in 1903 and brought about the first World Series.

3. They once made a Chris Duffy bobblehead.

2. Was considered a good fielder in large part because of exceptionally large hands, so big they almost rendered his little glove moot. Imagine that effect on the bobblehead.

1. Best ... shortstop ... ever.

To the Pirates' credit, they are having a turn-back-the-clock promotion honoring the 1909 team, appropriately, when the Tigers come to town.

Honus or Romulo Sanchez? Honus or Romulo ...

Decisions, decisions.

Sorry, I can't agree that a bobblehead is "honoring" Honus.

Bobbleheads are jokes. Gimmicks. Therefore, I have to vote for a joke. Romulo it is.

If it were some sort of fitting tribute, however, Honus would be my #1 choice.

I totally agree. While I'm a bobblehead collector, I do not feel like it is the best way to honor such a historic player.

Romulo is the way to go. And to quote a legendary Pirate...

"THERE IS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DOUBT ABOUT IT!"

How about a Bobblehead to salute the new Baseball Academy in Latin America

Well put it in your signature. It makes no sense in the body of a post.
