I'm not implying anything at all.

I am interested to see if what we saw last year, happens again. There was a huge 2 run differance in pitchers ERA between those two, and much arguement over the value of handling pitchers and the like.

Throw Morris aside, and the Pirates pitchers this year have started horribly with the highest ERA in baseball, with Doumit doing most of the catching again.

It will interesting to see if we can make conclusions on this matter in the next few weeks or so.

You can't make conclusions on this matter in a few weeks because of sample size. That is the same reason you can't insist that Paulino is superior at calling a game from last year's statistics; Doumit did not get enough time behind the plate. And CERA doesn't mean squat, anyway, unless you normalize is for each pitcher over a full season. I have my doubts that it means anything even then, or else Doug Gwosdz would be in the Hall of Fame.

Ryan "Injury Prone" Doumit out for one month. And now, it's the Ronny "Joggin" Paulino Show...

Yeah, that Doumit, his thumb bone sure is brittle.

I'm hoping that some competition and some time on the bench might have helped Joggin' Ronnie. The times that I've seen him play this year (not all that much, I confess), I haven't noticed any lapses in effort nor any dropped balls on plays at the plate. Have others? And even though his average isn't that great, he's had some clutch hits. 13 RBI in only 58 ABs is nothing to sneeze at. We'll see...

None that I can recall offhand, other than once or twice seeing him give less than 100% effort when running out grounders. Or maybe he is just that slow.

My worst fear for this team was a Doumit injury. I absolutely love how this guy plays the game. He reminds me of a Long Beach State "Dirtbag".

I'm still going to order his jersey tomorrow. Do I go with the home white or road gray? I have a home white already but haven't worn it in a few years and probably can't for another 15 years (it's a Kendall jersey). I figure in 15 years it will be a throwback.

Our old friend Buck would be the guy to ask about the Dirtbags.

That is pretty funny. Does that I can wear my Joe Orsulak jersey now?

Yep, it would be Doumit who would break his thumb trying to catch a ball as a catcher using his catcher's mit. Injury prone?........nah........ :?

Is he going to have to wear a special catcher's mit from now on? Or maybe special armor on his thumb or hand?

I assume this post is in jest? Catchers break fingers all the time, it has nothing to do with being injury prone. It has to do with a bal being thrown over 85 mph at them, and in this case, he didn't catch it in the mitt, it clanged off the thumb. Through high school, when I finally quit playing ball, I played with 3 catchers who had broken a thumb at one point, two of them broken by myself, and I didn't top 85.

My favorite jersey is my official Majestic Athletic Craig Wilson black alternate jersey. I wear it all the time, no worries. My dad has an old Dave Parker jersey that he keeps hidden as he knows I've coveted it since I was about 8 years old. I only get to view it when he is in the room and armed. It'll be mine someday...........oh yes it will.

Wear them for what they once were, not what they became.

Wow. You have quite an "All-Star Team" of jereseys. Bell, Mondesi and Martin.

I wanted to get an Alejandro Pena Pirates Jersey

LOL, good one! I once found a Chico Lind jersey laying on the side of the road in the Domincan Republic, oddly enough a pair of pants were found just a few kilometers down the road as well!

Was the Lind jersey escorting the Braves into the World Series by muffing a potential double play grounder?

If you guys know where I can get a hold of a Johnny Ray jersey please let me know. He is the reason I'm a die-hard Pirates fan. I suppose I could get one custom made but I'd like an authentic.

It is my understanding that Cards' announcer Al Hrabowsky was making note during the game today attributing part of Snell's ineffectiveness to he and Paulino not being on the same page. With the caveat that I did not see the game, I read that Snell was continually shaking off Paulino and that Paulino was apparently visibly upset that Snell kept shaking off his signs.

Bu...bu... but I thought Paulino was a super game caller! How could this be?!?

I don't get your logic.
Paulino calls for certain pitches.
Snell shakes him off to throw other pitches.
Paulino visibly frustrated that Snell won't throw what he calls.
Snell gets rocked. Hard. Over and over again.
And you conclude by questioning Paulino?
Please explain your conclusion . . . .
