Bill Brink tweeted that Chris Stewart will visit Dr. James Andrews and that knee surgery is "probable".

That would mean that Tony Sanchez is a lock to make the time, which is polarizing in that fans like myself who would prefer he gets everyday starts in AAA while Martin's contract runs out like was the original plan by acquiring Stewart.

One of our extra relievers could net us a serviceable catcher, leaving Sanchez to continue his development as planned.

That'd be ideal. 1B experience only makes it make more sense to me.

The only downside to this is the loss of the defense and pitch framing of Stewart.

Highly doubtful that expendable bullpen depth in the form of a Gomez or Mazzaro would be enough to land a recent top 100 guy like that, especially a catcher with that kind of offensive upside. With the type of return they would probably wield and how much they'll ride Martin, I would just stick with Sanchez as the back-up and try to use those trade targets more efficiently. I was in favor of him playing everyday in AAA, but predicted he'd be called up mid-year anyway, so I don't think it's a major deal.

He'll probably make at least 40 starts, so what's that, almost 7 a month? That seems like enough PT to put him in the bigs.
