If you are an OBP guy, don't look. Only one player projected to be over .333. (Cutch)

Los Angeles is a 45 WAR team.
Cincinnati is a 43 WAR team.
St. Louis is a 40 WAR team.
Atlanta is a 40 WAR team.
Pittsburgh is a 35 WAR team.

Throw in the towel . . .

Three things I liked about the article:

1. The OF comps. Cutch + 'Kemp' + 'Damon'? Likey.
2. They used the word 'embiggen'. It's a perfectly cromulent word.
3. Thanks to the OF comps, I now know who Amos Otis is.

You're showing your youth! I loved Amos Otis. Late 70s - early 80s, the Royals were my favorite AL team.

Oh heck, the Brewers were fun, so were the A's. I liked a lot of them...

Amos was a heckuva ballplayer until he came to Pittsburgh.

AZ is a 38 WAR team. Washington hasnt been evaluated. They have us as a middling team at best.

Obviously no need to play any games. Bring on the playoffs.

The projections are unreasonably pessimistic about the Pirates' 2014 pitching, IMO.

The site projects the entire staff to have an 11.4 WAR, which ranks as the 6th worst in MLB, per the predictions.

http://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.as ... &teamid=27

Okay, so the Pirates' pitching will be worse than that of the White Sox, Cubs, and Twins? Yeah, sure.

My posts were completely tongue in cheek.

Is WAR an instructive measurement? Yes. Is WAR interesting? Yes. I wouldn't debate either of those last two points.

I haven't yet bought into the theory that WAR measures "real" wins.

It feels good to know who Amos Otis is. Classic 'Hall of very good' guy. Can't let them become forgotten!

Also, careful with that talk of the Brewers. Some folks around here may not take too kindly to it. :D

The Brewers were in the AL then... I was quite the AL whore, going with every passing fad, but in Cecil Cooper, Larry Hisle, Robin Yount, Paul Molitor and Gorman Thomas, Man O Man, the Brewers had one hell of a lineup.
