Here we are again. All central division teams. 13 away and 9 at home.

St. L. 7 all away;Chic. 6 three at home; Cin. 3 away
Mil 3 At home;Hou. 3 at home

If we can win 12 of these we will be 30-30. Recall that was our exact record three years ago. Then we promptly fell apart.

What will we be this season at that point?

My guess is that we will win 11 and go from 18-20 to 29-31.
What do you think?

St. Louis 4-3
Chicago 3-3
Cincinnati 1-2
Milwaukee 1-2
Thus far: 9-10 (6-7 on road; 3-3 at home)
From 18-20 to 27-30.
3 left with the Central (Houston) and the vaunted D'Backs waiting in the wings (32-26).
And how about the interleague schedule this year?
Baltimore: 27-29; ChiSox 30-26; Yankees 28-29; Blue Jays; 31-28; Rays 35-22.

Even if the Bucs got solid pitching, good defense and hit well, they could be in for a long, long June.

And, oh yeah, the Bucs will face Oswalt and Webb in 2 of the next 4 games.

Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that the Rays were going to be the better team, by far, than the Yankees? If the Pirates have to face both Kazmir and Shields, they are in deep doo-doo.

No.9 , as usual you're right about this month. Inter-league play always nails us and that schedule sure looks to be very difficult for our boys.

It will be hard to remain interested after this month.

Final tally 11 up and 11 down. Right where we started. Can't be too disappointed though. If just one more of those games had gone our way, we would be at .500 right now.

If the Pirates can play .500 ball from here on out, they can get into September. In September, contenders who have clinched divisions start resting players. Other teams with no hopes start playing younger players. The Pirates, however, are in the middle, since they have something to play for. This could be the year where they get to .500.

11-11 is pretty good, considering the talent level. These guys play hard and are winning their share.

With Jack and Doumit back, maybe some of the guys who have struggled can pick it up a notch or two and we can get above .500.

Imagine if one or two of the following had happened: Snell/Gorzo pitch like the did last year, Jack never gets hurt, Freddy is health and hitting, LaRoche doesn't exist, Doumit doesn't get hurt.

The problem is, that's not reality. Snell/Gorzo have been bad, Jack and Doumit did get hurt, Freddy and LaRoche can't hit.

Given all of that, 11-11 is acceptable during the stretch.

No, it's certainly not, but still a nice accomplishment for the Pirates!
