I think it's cool. It's too bad they can't go all out and play for real like the U.S. Olympic basketball team. Ollie Perez and Humberto Cota will be back together for Team Mexico. I guess Ian Snell is the only current Pirate on any roster.

Last time this went down, MLB created their own version of the NFL's Pro Bowl: a worthless exhibition that players could ignore if they were too tired, too sore, had a date, or were too lazy. Supposedly, MLB is promising "mandatory reporting dates and workouts" for players who are selected this time.

I'm somewhat tempted to fly to Toronto for the opening round. Not because I'm dying to see the games... but it'd be a good excuse to go to Toronto and I'm sure there would be some sort of "WBC FanFest" event.

Puerto Rico is not a state. Correct me if I'm wrong but their citizens are not allowed to vote for our nation's president.

Who said it was and who said they could?

Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens since 1917, so to play for Puerto Rico you must be an American citizen, one of two WBC teams that have that requirement.
