Like the Pirate. Don't like the Pittsburgh script.

It's just a web-posted concept by a random graphic designer. Doesn't look like a professional baseball team's logo.

Quite frankly, I like the current logo, and the one before that.

Not as much as I like the gold P, but I'm not too excited to see it change. Maybe ditch the red bandana and sub in a black Pirate hat? Some small change like that?

Probably just a concept, but...

As far as new logos go, it's pretty good.

Also, it's better than Bucco Bruce; which is often good enough.

As long as the new Pirate on the logo isn't wearing a polkadot bandana I think I'll be alright. Or looks like Kris Benson...

I think anytime a teamname involves a human it inevitably leads to boring/bland/uninteresting logos. I rarely find myself liking any. The current one really isn't bad, nor was the '68-'86 logo from the first link. The others were obviously terrible. To remedy this I would personally like to see them do something Pirate-related that doesn't involve a human pirate, perhaps something involving just a newly designed skull & crossbones on a black flag or something similar to the Tampa Bucs when they transitioned away from the old human logo.

That being said, for whatever reason I liked this human-themed logo so much that I actually bought the hat last year. It's an official Pirates hat and is called "1979" but I guess that just means the logo was created to look retro.

I do like this one, but too derivative of the Seton Hall Pirate.

I don't see a resemblance.

I honestly don't see a need to have an actual "pirate" logo. The "P", the script Pittsburgh, and the stylized "Pirates" is all they really need.

If this means they bring back the "script" away jerseys I'm all for it. I never got one of those!

According to sportslogos.net, an excellent site on sports logos, history, etc., the Bucs will be demoting the figural pirate and the primary logo will be the "P" that appears on the cap. Not sure how I feel about that. I have a bit of a soft spot for the various pirates caricatures used over the years and have a particular love for the one from the 70s. Looks like they will still use the snarlin' Pirate as a secondary logo and it will still appear on the jersey sleeves.

What say you all?

Doesn't sound like much of a "change", I doubt many people would have even noticed. Since the "P" is what appears on the caps and chest of the current black uniforms, I think it's basically already the "primary logo". It's also what appears on the banner of the Pirates website, etc. And since they're keeping the "secondary" pirate logo on the sleeves, it basically just sounds like the same as it currently is.

I don't really have a problem with them putting more emphasis on the "P" logo than anything else ... people are always drooling over the classic NYY and Tigers "D" logos due to their classic/simplistic designs ... no reason the gold 'P' shouldn't be held in the same regard. The basic black hat/yellow P is definitely my favorite Pirates cap to wear.

I'd like to see just a skull and crossbones logo...Jolly Roger style.
