I loved Jim when he was in Pittsburgh, but he is getting older, doesn't really have to work any longer. But, I'll bet he wants one more managing job before retiring.

It sure sounds like he is done as a manager. He had a great career, perhaps a hall-of-fame career.

Here is a good article from CBS Sports

I remember before he took the Tigers job, the TV guys always showing him and Chuck Tanner sitting at the ballpark watching the Pirates.

I wonder if he'll be catching any games there next season?

Highly doubt it. He'll be 69 coming into next season, and said he had decided and discussed with the GM that he'd be gone after this year for a while no matter what happened to the Tigers in the playoffs. Also says he will retire a Tiger and will accept a different position in the organization that isn't manager. Hard to believe Dusty Baker is only 5 years younger. I think both are now done for good. Baker does want to continue, but I think he'll be hard pressed to find a job in today's game and environment. Of course, I'm sure there's some organization out there who will prove me wrong and make that mistake.

Rooting for the Tigers due to the Leyland/McClendon/Lamont coaching staff was one of the only highlights of the last few postseasons outside of rooting for the Rays.

Having a second and third favorite team is so gay  But in the spirit of the LGBT youth, I'll let it go this time.

 Sorry Shark, for the joke at your expense.
