The Arizona Fall League began last night and Taillon started for his team. Taillon only threw 35 pitches with 1 hit, 1 BB and 3 Ks. 1 unearned run on an error by the catcher. Three stolen bases also occurred while Taillon pitching, which is how the unearned run scored when the catcher made a throwing error and the runner came home.

Elsewhere for top Pirates prospects, Alen Hanson went 1-3 with 2 Ks, 1 BB and a bunt single. He had one SB and was also caught stealing, and committed an error. Alex Dickerson was the DH, and struck out 3 times while drawing a BB.

Here is what Keith Law had to say about Taillon ...

His curveball has been major league ready since HS. Hopefully he can use it right out of the gate, Cole really turned it around when he incorporated the slider back into his repertoire.

Lots of stolen bases on Taillon...but I don't think the Pirates push holding the runners until closer to the pitchers emergence to the bigs.

Taillon has been removed from the AFL roster due to a minor "tweaked groin" injury. Kyle Stark says it's nothing serious and just precautionary. And, replacing him is Phil Irwin.

My teaching partner got his autograph for me at a game this past week. Said he was a real nice guy. On the other hand, Ryan Howard was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame, and my partner said he was a dick.....
