The hitting really let the team down today. Pitchers gave up 3 hits and 2 runs.

Yes, Morton's BB's were an issue, but cannot be too hard on the guy for walking Beltran.

Needed to be able to put up 3 runs.

Offense cannot disappear like this if the team is going to advance beyond this round.

Ummmm... Did you see how Wacha pitched? Had a bit to do with it. Every bit as good as Cole.

Just going to say the same thing. Sometimes you have to tip your hat to the other guy. Odds are against us. Wainwright back on the hill. On the road.

That said, I like our chances.

Yeah, so Cole gave up no hits for 7 1/3 IP?

Wacha was throwing fastball after fastball. He had to have thrown 80% fastballs.

If a playoff team cannot hit fastballs, that is not good.

No Bucfan, he wasn't throwing fastball after fastball. He was throwing changeup after changeup. His changeup is in the mid-90's.

Mike, his change-up is not in the mid-90's. That's his fastball.

Good heavens, man, Strasburg and Cole have the two hardest-thrown change-ups in the game at 89 mph. Are you telling me Michael Wacha has 6-7 mph more on his change than does Strasburg?

If so, I guess his fastball is about 104 mph.

Wacha was great man. I'm hear to tell you, when a pitcher isn't allowing hitters to put good wood on the ball, any of the hitters, then he has great stuff. Every fastball is different. Wacha's is on an extreme downhill plane. The boys weren't picking it up and yes he was using his changeup and he controlled it. That's so hard to adjust to when the batter is having to start his swing early. Wacha was awesome. Let's move on and hope Wainwright isn't nearly as good.

Yes, that is what I am saying. His change up sits about 93, his fastball sits about 97. Plus/minus. At least according to the scouting reports posted by Sawchik and others today.

According to the announcers, he only got in trouble with Pedro when he went to his fastball and gave up on is changeup.

So, OK, I go to get the link for you and realize I have adult reading problems. His fastball sits between 92 and 98. I read that as the differential. My bad.

Still, the kid throws Cole type stuff, Buc.

Hmm, sounds like you are debating yourself there, Mike. ;)

Good news - you won the argument.

Bad news - you also lost the argument.

Credit where credit is Due. St. Louis had it Monday.
Anytime you have 1 hit in the game, it is not going to be a win.

Back at it on Wednesday
