Great comeback win today.. Comeback as in the series, not the game, because obviously the Bucs and Cole had this game under control from the start. Good win after yesterday's ugly loss...and with the series now 1-1 and going home for the next 2 with Morton, then Liriano, I think the pressure is now on the Cards. Okay, let's get to it.

STARTER: Cole was awesome from the start. Only blip was a solo HR. Threw the pitches he needed to, WHEN he needed to. Very impressive, young man, very impressive. Seeing his interview before the game, talking about his lack of experience and just doing what he had to and not over-thinking was great! Six great innings. He could have gone longer. I am sure there are those who are going to criticize Hurdle, but it worked. That's the bottom line! Today, in those 6 innings, he gave up just 2 hits, 1 BB, 5 Ks, and one earned run. His playoff ERA 1.50 and WHIP 0.50!!!!! GREAT START

Win: Cole gets the win to go 1-0.

Honorable Mention: Morneau goes 2-5 with a double and 2 runs. You could probably argue that he was #3 star with 2 hits. He might have scored higher than HM but also stranded 3 runners, grounding into DP when he could have broken the game completely open, so bumping him down to HM. Marte gets HM going 1-3 plus a walk, hitting a HR and stealing a base off the immortal Molina. Martin goes 1-3 plus a SF, driving in 2 runs and leading Cole to a great game. Melancon goes a perfect 8th to earn an HM....and Grilli, despite it not being a save opportunity strikes out the side in the 9th!

Star # 3: Marlon Byrd goes just 1-5, but he scored 2 runs and drove in a run with his double. He got to second hustling on a popup, which led to a run without the benefit of a hit.

STAR #2: Gerrit Cole! Great start. Drove in our first run after they walked Mercer to get to him. That was HUGE!

STAR #1: Was going back and forth between Cole and Pedro...but giving it to Pedro. He went 2-4 scored 2 and drove in 2. His first at bat was a double and he came around to score the first run. Then, in my opinion, his 2-run monster HR was really the knock out punch on the cards. He later got a productive out, a ground ball to the right, off a lefty to boot, to move Byrd to third, where he ended up scoring without the benefit of a hit. As streaky as we know Pedro can be (in addition to a Cardinal killer, especially in day games), he could totally take over this series!

PLAYOFF STAR POINTS
Liriano 8
Cole 7.0
Pedro 6.5
Gomez 2.5
Martin 2.5
Cutch 2
Byrd 1.5
Marte 1.0
Grilli 1.0
Melancon 0.5
PNC Crowd .5
Morneau .5
Burnett (-4.0)
