Clint is making himself look like an ass.

They asked if he knew AJ didn't have his stuff and he said yes, but we thought we could get a ground ball out of him.

You couldn't even get a strike out of him.

Maddening.

One team lost 3 games in a 7-game series by scores of 16-3, 10-0, and 12-0.

Just sayin'.

Larry Bowa is defending Hurdle. The other analyst on MLB Network is ripping him asking when should you know your pitcher doesn't have his stuff and why he didn't have someone up earlier, especially after you walk the pitcher to lead off the inning.

Let's face it. Hurdle stuck with AJ because he is AJ which didn't annoy me in the regular season so much. But in the playoffs, you can't be Mr. Nice Guy. You have to give your team the best chance to win.

His comments are exactly what you would expect. Nobody's ever going to stand up in that situation and say I completely and utterly didn't show up and neither did my starting pitcher. It would be refreshing but it never happens.

If that happens in this series, we lose the series.

And I don't care what the score was. But this game was over in the 3rd inning and it didn't have to be. It's not panic or meltdown or anything like that. It's frustration that Hurdle managed this game like it's 1 of 162, not 1 of 5. You have to manage differently just like you would do in a one-game elimination game or playoff.

Abso-freaking-lutely NO EXCUSE for leaving AJ in there. He was pitching like crap from the start.
I agree 200% with everyone else that you gotta pull him if he is giving the game away.

If Cole is pitching crap tomorrow, Hurdle better pull him fast...

Bingo. Hurdle is afraid of confrontation with AJ. Whether it is due to his fear of disrupting chemistry or hurting AJ's "leader" persona, or something else, it cost us. In the first inning, it was kinda obvious his curve was not working today. In the second, he was able to get the ground ball DP, but did not look good. As soon as he put Waino on via BB, I start thinking about Gomez. Certainly after Beltran's HR (with still no outs), Gomez should have been getting ready, and in a hurry.

This isn't hindsight, this is what I was screaming at the tv.

All good, my 2 year old learned some new words today. He now thinks our manager's name is Fvckinghurdle.

You weren't the only one. Go look at the game thread. I had it posted as it happened. And I was doing some screaming too.

Yeah, just started reading through it, laughing. Just proves that not only do great minds think alike, but so do lesser minds....

Ralphie's post at 6:20 said it all. By that time it was too late.

That's the way he's managed all season. This is crunch time Clint. You can't have this.

Yeah, I'm sure the players in the dugout would have responded much more positively to negativity and talking to the announcers about how disappointed he was in his team.

When AJ lost the sixth batter of the inning and I realized that Gomez was just getting up, I went ballistic.

Would like to have seen Hurdle acknowledge his mistake, but he wouldn't do it.
