Amazing.

And look at that list. Three ex-Pirates (Heaton, McWilliams & Smith)

We have an option for next year with him, don't we?
He's making a million this season with bonuses, right? What are the bonuses and how much?
Surely we are picking up the option. That's not a question!

I think someone linked to it in here when it came out.

And I believe that it is why Liriano was the guy for the job last night. Neutralizing Choo, Votto and Bruce basically means that they just had to survive Frazier and Phillips (although they barely did on that one foul ball, though I think Marte may have had a shot at it if it were fair). And Liriano delivered, especially against Votto. He made him Joey f-in' Votto look like Bad Pedro.

Yes.

He's a Pirate next season.

Already picked it up. I think all told he'll make about $14 mil for the two years we have him. I don't know how much to trust what I read from these guys but there was an article about him in the gameday mag when I was at the stadium Labor Day weekend and it seemed like he might be a guy who would take less money to stick around. Then again they all say that until push comes to shove and he could fall apart again in a few years.

Ah, if so, my mistake.

At any rate, here's a new one from Dave Cameron on Liriano's devastating slider last night: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/francisc ... ng-slider/

0 for 4 with two strikeouts on 10 pitches. 10!

The game was over by the 6th.

It was a two year contract, not one with an option. At this point in time I don't know or care what the terms of his compensation are.

The Pirates are in a good spot to extend him too. They could give him a four-year, $45 million deal and nix next year's. You would have him as a 30, 31, 32 and 33 year old. I think it would be worth it.
