Very nice piece. Surprised Stark knew how to get to Pittsburgh.

Reading this this morning was perhaps my highlight of the game.

I lived in Dover back in the late 80s and Stark was a columnist for the Philly Inquirer. Every Tuesday during the season he would get an entire page of the sports section, page 3, and he had the whole page for his This Week in Baseball column. I used to show up for work at 5:30am just so I could spend an hour reading that column. And if the café had opened at 5:00am, I would have been there then. I even met Stark at a party once, and I'm afraid my man-crush on him really embarrassed him and he spent the rest of the party avoiding me. Anyway, I moved away in 1990 and missed his columns when the Pirates were, you know, good. Reading him again on ESPN these past 5 years has been one of pleasures of the internet. It's been a long time coming, but I finally got to read my first Jayson Stark post-season piece on the Pirates.

Here's to several more!

What a great article!

I watched here in Knoxville, TN and seeing....and HEARING that crowd booming through the surround sound, literally brought tears to my eyes.

What a night.
