I just want to congratulate Pedro Alvarez for sticking with it and working hard despite a lot of criticism from fans. He still has a long way to go, reducing his errors, his strikeouts, getting on base a little more. But with the bad, comes the good. Tied for league lead in HR and 5th in RBI.

Way to go Pedro!

My brother attended the university of South Carolina and I remember him telling me that if the bucs could sign him that they were getting a kid who played with energy and fight to go along with a ton of talent. Skies the limit.

He has flaws, but he's still been a solid contributor to this team. I would love to see him take the next step in 2014, a la Chris Davis...

If he can start taking that outside pitch to LF on a more consistent basis, I think he could raise his average up into the .250 or .260 range, to go along with his power.

Unless the Pirates have been suppressing this batting swing, or drastically changing it in some manner, don't expect it. Davis was a function of "going back" to his natural swing after the Rangers tried to "fix" him.

For those bent on lumping all of his production into "streaks" and who had been saying it would be nice if he went on one of his hot streaks down the stretch, I didn't see much written about him hitting .324 with 3 HRs in the last 10 games of the season, and only 7 Ks in that span.

He had a good year, no doubt. And I'm looking for even better next year.

Need this recent hot streak to last at least one more game.
