Now that everything is wrapped up and the season comes down to 'Super Tuesday', it feels like a good time to give credit where credit is due. So, in no order, some 2013 'Atta boys!':

That Bum Pedro: 36 HRs and 100 RBIs---possibly good enough for league leads (and all despite swirling rumors of an AAA demotion ;) ). That's the kind of contribution the team has needed and fans have been waiting for. Atta boy!

'Opie' Huntington: Added Shark, Liriano, Jeanmar, Mazzaro, Byrd, kept Chaz-Mo, called up Cole. Acquired enough depth to survive losses of Wandy, Grilli, J-Mac, Marte and others without sacrificing W's. Sure, there were some dud acquisitions, but the good overweighed the bad to the tune of 92 wins and the playoffs. Atta boy!

Searage: NH may have acquired the arms, but Searage turned them into the 'Shark Tank'. Atta boy!

Shark Tank (TM): Too many contributors to single out just one guy. Overall, just terrific. Turned many games into seven-inning contest, kept sharp despite a tough workload and an injury to Cheese. Atta boys!

#Hurdled: Another improvement in the W column. Committed to the shifts. Kept the boys focused for the full 162 so as to squash all fears of collapse (among other demons slain). Atta boy!

Joey Bats II: The prodigal outfielder filled in admirably for #MartePartay to the tune of 22 XBHs, 6 HRs, 33 RBIs and a .766 OPS. Atta boy!

Freed Jordy: Kid proved he's a big leaguer. 23 XBH, .280 BA, 1.7 WAR (to Barmes 1.2). Atta boy!

The entire team deserves individualized 'atta boys!', but those are my recipients. Who gets yours?

Well, we're winning, so atta boys come easier right about now.

Obviously I am a fan of Mr Backup QB, Cutch has been super fine all season, Liriano was the pickup of the season, and I am enjoying the Marlon Byrd era at PBC.

Russell Nathan Coltrane Martin

Although he's had some ugly AB's, Russell has been terrific for this Pirate team. Especially for the Pirate pitchers. And, he HAS contributed with the bat in some big situations also! Russell has been a BIG reason why the Bucs have been successful this season. Great addition by NH.

Plus, I just want to say it's really nice to see the Buccos getting BIG hits and scoring runs at the most important time of the year (including Neil Walker!). Keep it up and GO BUCS!!!!!!

Hard to pick one or two or even three. I do think that no matter what other moves were made, Bucs miss the playoffs without Russell Martin. Just the blocked pitches alone might have been the difference. Not to mention controlling the running game and getting the most from the staff along with the occasional big hit. So I guess Martin gets my atta boy too.!

Charlie Morton.

Replicated his injury-free 2011 season, stepped forward when Locke faltered in the 2nd half, cemented himself as a rotation piece moving forward.

Also shut up the insufferable williamjpellas and his CHARLY schtick.

THE BRADENTON MARAUDERS for sending so many players up the chain to the big leagues to get the Pirates to where they are now.

Gaby. Imagine how poorly the 1B platoon would have been if he didn't do his job excellently and posted a .987 OPS against LHP.

Brandon Cumpton.... before this season most of us had never even heard of him, yet he came in and made starts when we needed him to including a few big starts and he posted a 2.05 ERA in a little over 30 innings...nice to have guy like him or Jeanmar Gomez that could step in and give us a chance to win when one of our main starters were injured.

He's on pretty much every other site except this one. Hated Morton because he talked about loving to play guitars and surf outside of baseball and thought Pedro was the worst guy ever because he tucked his ears in. Had an irrational love for Presley because he "plays the game the right way" and that apparently means something.

Basically just an old curmudgeon.

Clint Hurdle.

He has been the kind of calm, optimistic presence to help a team with a lot of young players in key roles (McCutchen, Mercer, Cole, Wilson, Watson) work hard for 162 games.

I ragged him for bullpen decisions and his reliance on Brandon Inge in May. The line-up issues are what they are, but he means more to the team than just filling out a line-up card.

The article J_C posted was an amazing insight into Clint Hurdle. I am so thankful he is with the Pirates. Compare Hurdle's optimism, his kind words, his patience with young players to a certain unnamed jackass named "Dusty Baker."
