This is only peripherally related to the Pirates, but it was too funny not to post: The Milwaukee Brewers will hold an open tryout Tuesday, and among those expected to attend is Randall Simon.

He just signed up for tryouts because he plans to sneak up into the stands and throw Bernie Brewer off his sliding board...

That fat pig probably wants to hit the complimentary buffet.

That'll be the only thing he is capable of hitting.

I know a good number of fans found it embarrassing, but I always found it hilarious. The guy was obviously just trying to have some fun and I got a chuckle out of it. I doubt he would have done it had he known it was going to be so overblown by the media (remember the story in Milwaukee where the guy said it was one of the worst incidents he's ever seen in his life?). I did wish the girl in the costume hadn't gotten hurt at all, but I think it was just a scrape on her knee or something. Still uncalled for, but if I was to playfully knock over a mascot, I wouldn't expect them to actually get hurt either.

P.S. - BBF, I'll get back at you regarding the fantasy league within the next few days.

I figured he was one of those great, cheap free agents you wanted to sign. "Simon and Sosa"....sounds like a new CBS sitcom.

It sounds like a Latin Restaurant that has food pumped with steroids and tenderize the meat with unsanitary untensils....

I think you are on to something here. Maybe Sauerkraut Saul could play 1st base until June while LaRoche remembers how to hit a baseball.
