I think that was Tabata's first HR to left this year. tied 1-1 going to the 7th. We need to make hay against the cubbies.

Cole in a pickle here. I would have pulled him after the line drive single which followed a walk. Can't give them the lead back. I guess hurdle is showing confidence in cole. I really like what I see from him so far.

Cole got out of it. That's why I am in a easy chair and hurdle is in the dugout. Go buccos!

That shot by Byrd was very close to where Pedro's was yesterday. Cole can get the win now. Time for the shark tank to shut things down. Will it be grilli and melancon?

Why not let Watson go and pull him as soon as he fails to get an out? Unconventional yes, but he was effective. Does the ninth inning make that much of a difference? There is too much paint by numbers managing. I believe if you have a need to shut down an inning in the 7th then why not use your closer when that might be the save for that game. Not all saves should be in the 9th.

Far too logical. Why use your relievers based on toughest situation when there's a stat that tells you nothing that can be accumulated in only the 9th?

3-0 Seattle over st. Louis top of the 8th. Melancon in for the 9th to close it out.

Every one does it and it is an old argument but for today's game cole got the save by getting out of the 7th. He saved himself :)

3-1 Seattle leads 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th. Go mariners!

Ump was squeezing the Seattle reliever furbush but they got out of going to the top of the 9th.

Raise it way up. Cole navigating out of a tough spot was especially satisfying. Fantastic day of sports.

Seattle has runners at 2nd and 3rd no outs top of the 9th. It was on a walk and a bunt single and a wild pitch moved both runners up. Then a sac fly gets. The guy in from third. Nice baseball. 4-1

4-1 M's final.

Sunday probables:

Wood @ Liriano (Wood stymied the Bucs at least once this year)
Erasmo Ramirez @ Miller
Arroyo @ Gallardo

Need a vintage Gallardo performance and another comebacker from Erasmo.

Also keeping an eye on:

Cloyd @ Zimmermann

Nats should coast to another W.

Great win, and good to see the Cardinals get stoned again by "ehh" pitching. Their offense is seriously questionable.

Tomorrow, Cubs throw a lefty against the Pirates ... Byrd, McCutchen, G. Sanchez, Mercer, Tony Sanchez, and Tabata are not impressed.

Nats just lost. 7 is the magic number with 14 to go for those worried. It's over for them.

That was as much fun as any this season. Man do I like the competitive spirit of Cole. His heart is almost as big as his talent. He is becoming something really special.
Two big homers and my buddy Alverez makes an incredible play on that line drive early.
Game made me concentrate on every pitch.--- Man-o-man.
